Situated at the heart of the North-East Passage, Vår is the only major port north of Laudanesia and the only port of the Succession Isles that is ice-free year-round, and so has long been a vibrant meeting place of cultures from all over the world. The city is said to have been founded in the third millennium BD by Theodorus the Builder, who fled across the sea after stealing the four sigils of the elder gods from Mount Urberos.
Vår is probably best known for its Autumn Festival, when the salmon are running and its famous clan trees turn vermilion or yellow, elegantly transforming the city. But visitors at other times of the year will not be disappointed, with Spring, Summer, and Midwinter Festivals all to be enjoyed, and year-round attractions such as the Green Palace, ancient shrines, mysterious caverns, and of course the warmest place in Vår outside of a hot spring: the Underground, where you can buy just about everything this world has to offer.
